To Lezly Hills: If your father was a Gunners Mate by the name of Harold Hills who served aboard USS Orleck in the late 1960's, I remember him well. I remember that Harold always spelled his last name with an "s" on the end. You may want to go to the USS Orleck Association's website at www.ussorleck.com to find additional information on the ship, a crew roster listing the names and addresses of former crew members, and information on ship reunions. It would give your father a chance to get in contact with former shipmates. There will also be a reunion held this year in Branson, MO in August. Steve Davis ASROC-GMG USS Orleck (1967-72)

My father served in Vietnam on this destroyer. What a wonderful website to commemorate the brave sailors. Best wishes to the USS Orleck!

I served on the USS Bausell (DD845),Gearing class DD from 69 to 73. At work today in Marseilles, Illinois I happened to look at a rail car that someone had tagged with the title USS Orleck DD886. So, I'm just letting the ex crewman who wrote the graffiti that his handywork was appreciated by a fellow tin can sailor.
